For many years we have been using the Oracle database appliance (ODA) platform as a bare metal and ODA Virtual Platform, and now also Oracle exadata, which naturally imposed itself as a successor. We will make a chronology and an inventory of the Oracle technologies used in the mentioned HW solutions, as well as the dangers and challenges we had and how we overcame them, taking into account exadata of course. Starting from Oracle ASM to ACFS, we will present where and what was changed with the storage space through the versions and what was useful to us, and what we had problems with, that is, what pitfalls we came across, and how we solved them. We will also talk about the patching of these platforms, and about. the risks to the business process in terms of possible downtime on the databases, but also on the virtual machines we have on these platforms using Oracle virtual technology on ODA, which was replaced with Oracle KVM with version 19.13 ( since version 19.9). We will compare all of this with the exadata device and what experiences there are on the same, and ask questions about where is the limit and what and how to transfer to the Cloud, taking into account what we gain and what we lose. Based on this, auditorium will be able to get an idea and draw conclusions about how to behave in the future.
The conference is organized by the Croatian Association of Oracle users. More about the association can be found at Hroug.hr.
