My view on Oracle’s position in Gartner Magic Quadrants for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms

Gartner has published its Magic Quadrants for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms (Gartner, 2023) report for 2023, on April 5th. As usually, it presents how various analytics and BI vendors position regarding the completeness of their vision and ability to execute. It is considered as “the go-to resource” when evaluating and comparing these technologies.In their report, Gartner says that the key Oracle’s strengths are in (Gartner, 2023):- Enterprise cloud data and analytics, - Augmented capabilities throughout and - Comprehensive data management.So what exactly is meant by that? We will dig a bit deeper to discuss Oracle’s position and explain why Oracle is placed where it is placed - in Visionaries quadrant. Of course, everything in this presentation will be my personal view and experience.

Žiga Vaupot, author
Žiga Vaupot is working in IT industry for 30+ years. He is with Qubix Slovenia for 8 years now, currently in the role of Country Manager. Even though Žiga's current role requires quite a lot of time, he is still active in his “original" business analytics consultancy role in which he has been active on various projects from the UK, Europe (primarily CEE region), US and Japan. In these project he was primarily involved with implemention of Oracle Analytics/Oracle Business Intelligence based solutions.Before joining Qubix Žiga was CIO of the largest Slovenian publishing company, Mladinska knjiga. Prior to this he has spent 10 years in Oracle Slovenia and CEE region performing in several roles from technology and application pre-sales, sales and marketing.Žiga's focus today still lies with Oracle (cloud) based technology and infrastructure. His expertise is in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure including Analytics, Autonomous Database, Machine Learning, Data Science, and other Data Lakehouse services.As a member of the SIOUG board, he is also an active member of the group in organising various events including annual MakeIT conference.Žiga has MBA degree of Faculty of Economics, and BSC degree from Faculty of Computer Sciences and Informatics, both University of Ljubljana.He also holds several Oracle expertise certificates, such as Oracle Cloud Platform Enterprise Analytics 2021 Certified Specialist, Oracle Autonomous Database Cloud 2021 Certified Specialist, Oracle Machine Learning using Autonomous Database 2021 Certified Specialist and Certified Business Intelligence Foundation Suite 11g Implementation Specialist.Žiga is Oracle ACE Pro since 2020.
