Building real time APEX Maps with WebSocket

The Map region has received some significant updates with the latest releases of APEX, which makes visualising geographical data easier than even before. But wouldn’t it be great if we could add real time updates for every user of our application?In this session, I will explain key concepts and show you how to build a map with additional functionality. By using the APEX Map region, JavaScript and the WebSocket protocol, we can create an interactive application with great user experience!During this session, I’ll go more into detail about the features of the APEX Map region, such as layers, GeoJSON and its Dynamic Actions. I will explain key concepts of the WebSocket protocol and how to set up a basic Node.js server combined with the Socket.io library for real time communication. All of these functionalities will be shown in a demo application, in which attendees will be able to participate.Because of the visual aspect, the APEX Map region is great for displaying real time updates. But the WebSocket protocol can be used for all kinds of use cases. With this session, I would like to share some basic techniques that other developers could also use in their applications.
